Description

The Sebeka Historical Society holds a city museum, which is dedicated to the preservation of early Finnish settlers. It is housed in an historic cabin, and collections include vintage clothing, antique furnishings, early radios and cameras, and other family memorabilia from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The other buildings on site include the Anderson Pioneer Store, the first store in Sebeka, and Jefferson Highway, which used to be the essential highway for travelers, reaching from New Orleans, Louisiana to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The society’s vision is to “recycle the town’s history, taking things that may no longer have a functional use, but provide a rich context of the area’s heritage.”
