Description

The Browns Valley Historical Society holds the log cabin home of former resident and city founders, Samuel J. Brown and his father, Major Joseph R. Brown, located on a strip of land between the source of the Red River and the Minnesota River. The first floor of the cabin is filled with Brown family memorabilia, while the second is a re-creation of a portion of the Brown family home. An old schoolhouse holds items that would be seen in the late 1800s to early 1900s, the Carnegie Library, which holds past photographs and artifacts from the town’s past, including a wall dedicated to its past high school and a scale from a past grocery store, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church are also included within the Society.
