Description
The Roseau County Historical Society has been in existence for more than 95 years, and the museum portrays the past as well as the present. They include, within their museum, old photos and artifacts on the county’s past development such as information on agriculture, manufacturing and trade. As well, they also have artifacts and histories on the Native American settlements and a Military Service file that holds photographs and biographies on past military personnel. Alongside their exhibits, the Roseau County Historical Society also includes an extensive amount of research material for genealogy information. This feature does cost five dollars for one-on-one help; however, they still include cemetery, obituary, and death indexes, starting from the late 1800s, within and the surrounding counties of Roseau. Other information they include are school and county tax records, marriage and naturalization indexes from 1904 to 1915, files on past businesses and churches, past high school yearbooks and past Roseau county newspapers from the late 1880s to present.
