Subject

Heritage & Art Center

Description

The McIntosh Heritage & Arts Center was founded in 2010 and wants to stimulate interest in the history of McIntosh as the hub of the original Thirteen Towns, known today as the communities of Erskine, Fosston, Lengby, McIntosh, and Mentor. Through this, they provide collection and preservation on past artifacts and photos that have been passed down by the lifelong residents of McIntosh and the surrounding area. They also promote future artistic creativity for all ages, within their communities. Exhibits include the Peterson Cabin and the memorial marker, as well as the McIntosh’s Old school, which is being restored in order to function as the primary site of the history of the Thirteen Towns of eastern Polk County. Festivals that the McIntosh Heritage & Arts Center involves in include the Memorial Day “Tunes on the Lawn” and October Old Settlers Festival.
