Description

The Kensington Area Heritage Society includes their museum, which is famous for their Kensington rune stone. This inscribed stone was left in 1362, later was found on a local farm, and was then recognized as their featured monument from then on out. Now the museum features the stone in their exhibit named, “Kensington – a Town & its Stone,” giving a detailed background on its history. The museum also focuses on the cultural and historical heritage of the Kensington area. This includes displays on Swedish furnishings and domestic tools. Outside this museum, there is also Fort Alexandria, which has log buildings, an 1880 country schoolhouse, and a view of the forty-foot Viking ship, the “Snorri.”
