Description

Located in the former house of U.S. Senator and Minnesota Governor Knute Nelson, the Douglas County Historical Society holds an extensive amount of history on the Douglas County. The society holds a number of different history files from the late 1800s to early 1900s for those seeking genealogy information, including marriage records, census records, cemetery records, homestead records, birth and obituary files, files on schools and businesses, 125 years of area newspapers, and a wide variety of plat maps. This feature does cost 10 dollars per day for any research that you may have, or 20 dollars per day for a research librarian to do it. They also have access to 5,000 archival photos of different past Douglas County events that they are able to scan and put on CDs for the public. Among their other exhibits, the Society has a large collection of educational resources, including oral histories, and pioneer dress and uniforms.
