Heritage Center and Museum
The Warroad Heritage Center and Museum holds the essence of the history the city has to offer. The main exhibits include artifacts from local commercial fishing, lumber, and mine ranching industries. They also have displays of artifacts depicting the early pioneer settling, military duties and the work of the fur trade. Among their other functions, they include info on the long time company, Marvin Windows and Doors, as well as the Christian Brothers Hockey Stock factory.

Ulen Historical Museum
Historical Museum
The Ulen Historical Museum helps preserve the history and culture of Ulen, MN. Of its exhibits, it includes an extensive doll collection, a replica of a pioneer home, a sports memorabilia wall with signed autographed artifacts from Minnesota’s best known athletes, a military exhibit that features photos and past uniforms and a monthly traveling exhibit from the Minnesota Historical Society.

Terrace Mill Foundation
Historical Foundation
This society maintains the first original Terrace Mill, an 1870 building used to process flour, in Pope County, as well as the Keystone Arch Bridge and several historic houses. These historic homes house Scandinavian artifacts including Norwegian furnishings and folk art, such as rosemaling and hardanger stitchery. They also include the Wheeler Gallery, which features different art exhibits every year as well as the Lee Paulson Pioneer Playhouse, featuring theater art.

Starbuck Depot Society
Society
The Starbuck Depot Society preserves and has restored the historic building of the Starbuck Northern Pacific Depot. The depot includes authentic Northern Pacific tools, the original caboose made in 1909, a Railway Express Agency baggage cart and original depot items including agent’s chair, safe, cabinets and ticket dater. The Society also holds an annual Lefse Dagen in May, which celebrates the restoration of the historic landmark, as well as holds the record for setting the world’s largest lefse.

Sebeka Historical Society
Historical Society and Museum
The Sebeka Historical Society holds a city museum, which is dedicated to the preservation of early Finnish settlers. It is housed in an historic cabin, and collections include vintage clothing, antique furnishings, early radios and cameras, and other family memorabilia from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The other buildings on site include the Anderson Pioneer Store, the first store in Sebeka, and Jefferson Highway, which used to be the essential highway for travelers, reaching from New Orleans, Louisiana to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The society’s vision is to “recycle the town’s history, taking things that may no longer have a functional use, but provide a rich context of the area’s heritage.”

The museum is located in a school erected in 1912 and functions as both a museum and a community center. Within the school, one of the old classrooms remains, exhibiting artifacts from an original school day during the pioneer years. As well, the grounds also holds a pioneer log home, that displays other living tools and furnishings from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Sand Hill Settlement Historical Society
Historical Society and Museum
The Sand Hill Settlement Historical Society supplies collection of historical buildings that provide visitors with a look at life in an earlier time. The society is establishing a “working pioneer farmstead” by maintaining the 1871 homestead of Ole O. Estenson, a pioneer in the Red River Valley. The homestead includes the Estenson’s barn and cabin that the Estenson’s lived in during the pioneer days.

Prospect House and Civil War Museum
Museum
The Prospect House is a Georgian-style mansion, the former home of the Civil War veteran “Cap” Colehour and contains a wide variety of Civil War artifacts and personal belongings of the Colehour family. Both the house and the grounds are open to visitors.

Pennington County Historical Society
Historical Society and Museum
The Pennington County Historical Society includes a pioneer village, which has a collection of 19 historical buildings, showing what life was like in Pennington County a hundred years ago. Many people enjoy viewing the past recreational and sporting goods, including tractors and snowmobiles that the society has on hand. As well, the museum maintains research materials, including cemetery records, obituary records, and an online collection of more than 7,000 photographs from the late 19th century to early 20th century. They also include the Thief River Falls Times newspapers from 1920 to 1966 within their past information. The pioneer village is used for the special Goodridge Bicentennial, as well as local weddings and events.

Norman County Historical Society
Historical Society, Prairie Village and the Red River Museum
Within the Norman County Historical Society, there are two separate sites that it contains. This include the Prairie Village in Ada, MN, which is dedicated in telling the story of the county’s founding and the early settlers that created it. The village contains 12 historic buildings, holding photos, past artifacts and tools that that the pioneers used. Throughout the year, the Prairie Village holds both the Norman County Fair in June and Pioneer Days after Labor Day weekend. The second site is the Red River Museum, located in 211 3rd St., Shelley, MN, and contains a replica of a 1930’s school house, featuring a usable Loom Room and an extensive military collection.
